Special Issue: Pathways to Carbon Neutrality:

Pathways to Carbon Neutrality: Interlinking Environment, Energy, and Climate Change Action

Scope:

The global community faces an unprecedented challenge in combating climate change and transitioning toward a sustainable future. Carbon neutrality, the equilibrium between emitted carbon and sequestered or offset carbon, has emerged as a critical pathway to address this challenge. Achieving carbon neutrality necessitates a profound restructuring of energy systems, environmental policies, and societal behaviors. This shift involves an intricate interplay between the environment, energy sources, and climate change action. An important focus is placed on global cooperation and community engagement in the transition to carbon neutrality, as well as the role of renewable energy in achieving carbon neutrality. The comprehensive approach examines the intricate relationships between these domains, assessing existing and emerging policies, technological innovations, and economic implications. An important focus is placed on global cooperation and community engagement in the transition to carbon neutrality, as well as the role of renewable energy in achieving carbon neutrality. The special issue aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected pathways towards carbon neutrality. It endeavors to stimulate discourse, share insights, and foster collaborative solutions crucial in steering the global community toward a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

The potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Carbon neutrality strategies and roadmaps explore diverse approaches and frameworks adopted by regions, industries, and nations toward achieving carbon neutrality, emphasizing the integration of environment-centric policies with energy transitions.
  • Renewable energy initiatives for carbon neutrality showcasing case studies and research on how renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro) play a pivotal role in decarbonizing energy production and achieving carbon neutrality goals.
  • Climate change mitigation policies and adaptation measures that analyze policy interventions and adaptation strategies aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change, including studies on resilience-building measures in the face of environmental challenges.
  • Technological innovations for carbon reduction that highlight innovative technologies and practices across various sectors (industry, transportation, agriculture) that contribute to reducing carbon emissions, fostering sustainable energy use, and promoting environmental stewardship.
  • Intersection of energy, environment, and climate change that discusses the ethical and equitable dimensions of achieving carbon neutrality, addressing issues related to climate justice, access to clean energy, and environmental equity for marginalized communities.
  • Investigate integrating renewable energy sources into existing energy infrastructure, addressing issues, and scaling up renewable energy technologies.
